Extreme Lighting Photo
"When a scene has a mixture of very bright and very dark areas your
light meter may very easily get confused. In such high-contrast
shots, expose for the highlights. In other words, walk up
to, zoom in to, or spot meter on the most important
bright area (a face, sky, snow, detail) and then
half-depress the shutter release button
to hold the exposure (exposure lock).
Recompose and take the shot.
