Tip #22: "Warhol" Photo Effect
By: Donna ChapmanStart by opening your photo. This one was taken by Tedric on a trip to Texas.
Step 1. Since my main figure is very close to white I painted the background white so that there is more contrast between my cow and my background.
Step 2. Make photo into only black and white. (no grays)
a. Go to Image > Adjustments > Threshold
Using slider, adjust to a point where you can still make out the subject but the background disappears. Here I choose a 109 so that the face is clearer.
Step 3. Resize the canvas by clicking on Image > Canvas Size
a. Set your anchor point to the top left corner
b. Put your width and height to 200 percent
Step 4. Click (Control + J) 3 times to create a total of four layers.
a. Using the move tool move the subject on each layer so that you can see all 4 evenly.
Step 5. Using the fill bucket, make certain that the Contiguous button is not checked, and fill each layer with a different color.
